Blue vase with pheasant decoration – Eugène Collinot, circa 1870

At the origin of this ornamental piece, two associates, Eugène-Victor Collinot (1824-1889) and Adalbert de Beaumont (1809-1869): the chemist and the orientalist collected and recreated an East as the West dreamed it. The Collinot & Cie factory claims at each World’s Fair a real race for monumentality, pushing the material to the limits of its possibilities. This monumental vase bears witness to the permeability of the ceramists of the second half of the 19th century in the face of new influences from the Far East..
