This jardiniere of shaped oval form flanked by loop handles, the serpentine paneled sides are painted with roosters, pheasant, swallows in their natural habitats.  This jardiniere is characteristic of Theodore Deck’s style. Painted under the glaze, the decoration is inspired by Japanese prints and other European pattern books that flourished since the mid-19th century in France and Great Britain.
