19th Century Jaspered Medallion Plate by Georges Pull

This jaspered medallion plate with a jasper heart is inspired by the works of Bernard Palissy, a famous end of the 16th century French Saintongean ceramist. The center of the plate shapes a medallion imitating those jaspered stones set in goldsmith works, highly prized for their decorative effect. This medallion is highlighted by two concentric corollas of gadroons, such as two strawberries, to magnify the center of the dish. The gadroons are separated from each other by an interlaced blue pattern forming a delicate mesh over the entire border.
