LE THÊATRE ANTOINE & LA GALERIE VAUCLAIR
In 2012, the Foyer of the Theatre Antoine in Paris hosted three of our iconic rattan lounges of the Belle Epoque; A selection of ceramics from Galerie Vauclair perfectly complement the decor of the Foyer.
Inaugurated in 1866 under Napoleon III, the Antoine theater hall was rebuilt under the Third Republic. It will change names several times over time, from Théâtre des Menus Plaisirs at the Arts Theatre, Opera Bouffe, Comédie Parisienne and finally the Theatre Libre. Classified as a historic monument, the place embodies the taste of a society in search of entertainment and pleasure. Place of exception for ceramics and rattan of the Gallery, recreating the spirit of Jardin d’Hiver of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Galerie Vauclair gratefully acknowledges the photographer J. Chamoux for its beautiful photographs of the Foyer, and Stéphanie Bataille for his contribution.
