Wooden Pedestal Table with Chinese Inspired Decor, end of 19th century

This superb wooden pedestal table receives a very important work of nacre inlay. Formed with three feet, the base is richly worked, inspired by Asian aesthetic vocabulary. Indeed, the base receives square geometric shapes evoking the ornaments of Asian temples. Moreover, those if are decorated with a red border, color of the royalty in China and Japan. The sixteen-angled plateau is decorated with several castles and temples scattered in several places. Trees or butterflies punctuate the scene. The decorations are gold in color and are decorated with mother-of-pearl inlays on certain details giving all its preciousness to this pedestal table. Asia, the main theme of this piece, is one of the most popular iconographic repertoires of 19th century artists. This piece is a striking example.
