Léon Sazerat, Pair of  japanese vases, circa 1880 

This pair of vases demonstrates the attractiveness of French ceramist from the second half of the nineteenth century for aesthetics and Far Eastern culture. Fascinated by its patterns, colors, shapes, artists redouble their ingenuity and know-how to give a new aesthetic. These vases are marked by the initials of the manufacturer “L. S. Limoges” for Leo Sazerat in Limoges. This factory produced mainly porcelain and knew a great success in the last decades of the nineteenth century.
