Green Rattan Armchair, French Manufactory, beginging of 20th century 

Green rattan armchair made probably at the beginning of the 20th century in France. Nice work on the borders painted in white and green forming a geometric mesh.

The tatse for exoticism during the Second Empire explains the enthusiasm for rattan furniture. It is visible with the massive import of raw materials from Asia to produce furniture that is light and decorative. It was in this favorable context that the great Parisian houses.
