Le Boudoir rose, in partnership with Pierre and Roseus Barbatus, from January 18 to 23, 2023, for Maison & Objet in the City
To celebrate 2023, Galerie Vauclair sees life in pink. For Maison et Objet in the City, Laurence and Denis Vauclair-Rouquette are transforming their Galerie into a warm boudoir in shades of pink. Bouquets bloom in this pink boudoir, the work of Roseus Barbatus, the magician of crepe paper flowers. The flowers are arranged in magnificent pieces: ceramic flower bowls, vases painted with yellow daisies, purple irises or trompe l’oeil cockatoos. This marriage of flowers with the Napoleon III pieces in the Galerie Vauclair is magnified by Denis Rouquette’s scenography. A shared love of fabrics, embroidery and color makes the meeting of this crepe paper flower artist with Laurence and Denis an obvious choice.
This paper flora resonates like a Proust madeleine for Laurence. The interplay of materials awakens in her memories of flowers blooming on the silk and ta etas fabrics of her grandfather’s workshops. A tailor’s granddaughter, Laurence’s aim is to give pride of place to all materials, and to create a felted setting for these paper flowers, with convolutions similar to the pleats of the great couturiers’ draperies. Galerie Vauclair has become a leading name in this field, showcasing 19th-century craftsmen through its enchanting scenography. In an intimate ambience, the heart marvels, indulges and rests. To complete this dreamlike picture, Galerie Vauclair’s must-have rattans get a new look thanks to fabrics by Pierre Frey.
